Final acceptance of a software product is frequently based on completing a set of configuration audits. These audits ensure that the product has satisfactorily met all of its applicable requirements.
1) Functional Configuration Audit: The primary purpose of the Functional Configuration Audit is to ensure that the product that was tested to demonstrate compliance with contract requirements is essentially
the same as the product that will be delivered. Conducting software tests frequently takes months or even years, during which time the software item being tested may undergo revisions and modifications. The Functional Configuration Audit should ensure that none of these revisions adversely affects the results of previous tests.
